Randomization (of questions)
Randomization of questions means that all of your question will be shuffled in a random order every time someone opens the survey/quiz. This can be useful for a quiz when you don’t want respondents to look at each others answers, because this way they’ll start and end with different questions. Log in and try it yourself! https://app.surveyanyplace.com/login.
1 Get started
Once you have all your questions, save your progress.
2 Set the Randomization
Go to Extra Options and choose Skip Logic and Question Grouping.
You can use Randomization in three different ways:
- Randomize all questions
- Randomize several questions and keep some questions fixed in place
- Randomize questions that are grouped on one screen
2.1 Randomize all questions
When you want to apply Randomization to all the questions, turn on Randomization in Question Block 1 (the only Question Block you have). All your questions will appear in a random order, this order will change constantly.
2.2 Randomize several questions
If you only want to Randomize several question, you can work with Question Blocks. For example when you want the first and the last question to be fixed because they are data collection questions, and the quiz questions in the middle to be shuffled.
Start by adding 2 new question blocks by clicking twice on the green Add Question Block button.
Move all the questions you want to have fixed underneath the ones you want to Randomize to the third Question Block by clicking on Move to next block for each question.
Move the questions you want to Randomize to the second Question Block by clicking on the Move to next block button for each question. If you have made a mistake and moved a question to many, you can put it back by clicking on the Move to previous block button.
All the questions that you want to have fixed above the questions that will be randomized are in the first Block now.
Turn on the Randomization in the second Question Block.
Great, you randomized your questions!
2.3 Randomization on one screen
If you want to randomize questions that are grouped on one screen, you can turn on both Group on Screen and Randomization.
It will look like this:
