If you’re going to distribute a survey or quiz to a group of people that speak different languages, the Translations feature might be something for you. You still only have to distribute one URL. When your respondents open the quiz/survey they’ll get a menu where they can choose their own languages out of the languages you’ve added to the survey/quiz. By using the Translations feature people who only speak certain languages have a chance of filling in the survey/quiz where as otherwise you might have missed out on reaching a part of your target audience.
This is the first screen of a survey/quiz with Translations, the Language Selection Screen. Here the respondent can choose the language in which he/she wants to take the survey/quiz. You can add as many languages you need.
1 Get started
Create a new quiz or survey by clicking on the orange + Create New Button.
Add your first question by clicking on the green Add First Question + button.
2 Adding a Translation
Click on Extra Options in the menu on the left or at the top of the page.
Click on Translations.
Write an intro text (optional) that will be shown above the Multiple Language buttons. You can also add an image such as a logo.
Click on Add New Language.
Add the name of the language and click on Create.
3 Setting the Translations
Click on Edit Language for the language you just created.
Translate all the texts. Make sure to translate EVERY text, message and label.
Click on the Save button at the bottom of your screen.
Check if the language is complete. It’s completed when the ‘x’ is changed to ‘v’.
Tip: If the language doesn’t appear on the menu (or the ‘x’ next to Compete Language doesn’t change), you probably missed a label or text. Check them again and complete the Translations in order for the language to appear.
Click on Preview to check out the Language Selection Screen that you created.
4 Extra Settings
- Default Language: Only one language can be set as default. This is the language of the questions and answers that will appear in the results pages.
- Active Language: If set to Yes, the specific language button will appear in the Language Selection Screen. In case of No, this language button will not appear.
